DOHA: With less than 100 days to go until Qatar hosts the AFC Asian Cup, the local organizing committee has officially launched the tournament’s Volunteer Program. About 6,000 volunteers will be recruited from inside Qatar to offer support across twenty functional areas.

Yes, volunteers will receive a certificate by the end of the tournament.

“Volunteers form the backbone of any major sporting event,” said the CEO. “The success of the Asian Cup will rely greatly on the tremendous skill set, enthusiasm and diversity that our volunteers will bring to the tournament.”

Interested applicants will be able to submit their details through a dedicated portal at https://volunteer.asiancup2023.qa/login. Volunteers must either be Qatari nationals or residents of Qatar and must be 18 years or older.

The volunteer recruitment center will be located at Lusail Stadium. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to the iconic stadium for face-to-face group interviews.

Once selected, applicants will go through a multifaceted training program. This is followed by uniform distribution and beginning of their shifts, with some roles starting as early as December 1, 2023.

Volunteers will play an important role in different areas including spectator services, accreditation and media operations.

1. When does registration open and what’s the deadline to register?

• Registration will be open from 5 October at Volunteer.AsianCup2023.qa The exact date for the end of registration will be communicated at a later stage.
• However, we urge candidates to complete the registration and fill the application form as soon as possible, as the registration window won’t be open for too long and interviews start soon.

2. Who is eligible to apply as a volunteer?

• Candidates must be at least 18 years old by 1 November 2023.
• Be available to commit to a minimum of 7 shifts during the tournament
• (January and February 2024. Some volunteer roles will start as early as 1 December 2023).
• We welcome applications from every nationality, race, educational background,
• and profession, affirming our commitment to inclusivity and diversity.

3. I am an international volunteer, can I participate?

• Volunteer opportunities for the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023™ are limited to citizens and residents of Qatar.
